Conclusion:

Taken together, our results strongly suggest that E2D is a blood signature substance that serves as an approach-avoidance cue across phylum borders; it elicits approach responses in blood-feeding invertebrates as well as in mammalian predators, while eliciting avoidance behavior in mammalian prey species. These results demonstrate the existence of a cross-species food- and alarm cue that affects behavior in both human and non-human animals alike.

PD-L1 expression is strictly associated with microRNA function in lung cancer cells. The group of microRNAs related to PD-L1 includes, among others, miR-200, miR-197 or miRNA-34. Expression of these molecules may be useful in lung cancer diagnosis, qualification to anti-PD-1 or anti-PD-L1 antibody therapy and could be a potential therapeutic target. P. aeruginosa possesses similar quorum-sensing machinery to other species of bacteria. For example, it produces an enzyme called RhlI that synthesizes an autoinducer molecule known as N-butanoyl-L-homoserine lactone, or C4-HSL. This molecule can then bind and activate a protein called RhlR that regulates the expression of multiple genes that P. aeruginosa needs to form a biofilm and/or infect a host.

How to teach evolution when students hold creationist views


Feierman, and others like him, have been teaching neo-Darwinian theories either directly or indirectly. But Feierman’s nonsense has consistently been the most offensive to me personally. Most of the uranium they found in that unmined site is estimated to be 3 million years old, and formed via reduction by microorganisms – microbes that respire not on oxygen, but on uranium.
