My comment: Unlike nearly all theorists, they do not claim to be certain about any of the physical mechanisms that link atoms to ecosystems in the context of supercoiled DNA in the organized genomes of all living genera on this planet.
For comparison, many theoretical physicists and evolutionary theorists place everything known or unknown about the biophysically constrained nutrient-dependent RNA-mediated physical mechanisms of amino acid substitutions and cell type differentiation into the context of mutations and evolution. Some of those theoretical physicists and evolutionary theorists are also among the people who attack the beliefs of creationists who have linked virus-driven genomic entropy to all pathology on this planet.

The papers by Jaeger (microbiology) and Noble (physiology) are strong steps forward in this regard. This is perhaps the area where most needs to be done, across the board in all domains. Areas where striking progress is being made in this regard are epigenetics  and social neuroscience .

Population geneticists ignored his claims. They have also continued to ignore Darwin’s “conditions of life” and continued to ignore what is known about the virucidal effects of UV light. Serious scientists know that UV light may be the link from chaotic cyclic cosmology to the nutrient-dependent “conditions of life” that prevent genomic entropy. For example, thermodynamic cycles of protein biosynthesis and degradation appear to ensure the successful reproduction of species that ecologically adapt. No species has ever been shown to mutate and evolve into another species.

Many interesting questions remain regarding the physical viability of such a cyclic model given the usual problems associated with cyclic models, including the growth of entropy and the growth of perturbations through each cycle. The detailed physics of an inverse reheating process are also to be explored in detail, given that the physics of reheating itself may not be time symmetric. A further consideration would be how to construct an explicit decaying cosmological constant model that would t with all available observations to date. My comment: Clearly, the challenge that they issue to all theorists requires that the theorists either link the anti-entropic energy of UV light from atoms to ecosystems or offer another model that attempts to do so. Claims that “natural selection” is a neo-Darwinian anti-entropic force are, quite frankly, the claims of biologically uninformed science idiots.
