The Darwin Code by Greg Bear
My comment: Science fiction author Greg Bear linked what is known about viruses from the portrayal of bacteriophages in “Arrowsmith” to what is known today. He portrayed the role of viruses that linked ecological variation to the epigenetically-effected ecological adaptation of a new human subspecies. He integrated everything currently known to serious scientists about biophysically constrained nutrient-dependent RNA-mediated cell type differentiation in “Darwin’s Radio” and “Darwin’s Children” and predicted forthcoming terrorism in “Quantico.”
