Faith in evolution: Paleontology as a molecular science

For the last 20 years, Mary Schweitzer, a paleontologist at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, has amassed a wealth of evidence that she’s isolated protein fragments from dinosaurs as much as 80 million years old. That bucks the conventional wisdom among paleontologists who argue that proteins, which are made of chains of amino acids, can’t survive more than 1 million years or so. So far, no group other than Schweitzer and her collaborators has managed to replicate the findings. She contends that’s because others don’t follow her methods. If Schweitzer is right and outside researchers eventually do confirm her findings, it could transform dinosaur paleontology into a molecular science. That, in turn, could help researchers answer long-standing questions, such as whether dinosaurs were warm- or cold-blooded, and work out the dinosaur family tree.

The evidence does not show that the protein fragments are from dinosaurs as much as 80 million years old. No experimental evidence of biophysically constrained biologically-based cause and effect suggests that is possible. But she is keeping her faith in evolution despite the fact the nothing but mathematical models support that pseudoscientific nonsense.

In the development of science, they are as much the integral part as pigeonhalling confirmed data. Attempted memes are the background soil for the progress in science.

And more so is with the situation of theology. What ultimately validates is not correspondence according to objectified criteria. It is the extent of sincere dedication that serves to carry the weight of life. In that sense, every theology contains element of self-service. Concern could be a matter of degree rather.

Eshel Ben-Jacob is Professor of Physics of Complex Systems and holds the Maguy-Glass Chair in Physics at Tel Aviv University. He was an early leader in the study of bacterial colonies as the key to understanding larger biological systems. He maintains that the essence of cognition is rooted in the ability of bacteria to gather, measure, and process information, and to adapt in response. For the last decade, he has pioneered the field of Systems Neuroscience, focusing first on investigations of living neural networks outside the brain and later on analysis of actual brain activity. In 2007, Scientific American selected Ben-Jacob’s invention, the first hybrid NeuroMemory Chip, as one of the 50 most important achievements in all fields of science and technology for that year. The NeuroMemory Chip entails imprinting multiple memories, based upon development of a novel, system-level analysis of neural network activity (inspired by concepts from statistical physics and quantum mechanics), ideas about distributed information processing (inspired by his research on collective behaviors of bacteria) and new experimental methods based on nanotechnology (carbon nanotubes). Two former facebook friends are among those who claim that “nobody cares” that I have detailed the facts about the virus-driven cause of death for Stephen Paddock and his victims. When will others learn why there was no obvious motive to his madness?
The excerpts above clearly indicate that virus-driven epigenetic drift led to the deadly constraint-breaking mutations via everything known to serious scientists about epitranscriptomics and biophysically constrained viral latency.
Simply put, like most people, Stephen Paddock failed to protect himself from the virus-driven degradation of messenger RNA that serious scientists have linked to all pathology in all living genera. I find this article interesting because of the “object of study.” We are used to thinking about evolution at hierarchical levels above that of protein enzymes. Yet, protein enzymes are “structural design features” and follow the same principles of evolution by natural selection as structural design features at higher hierarchical levels, such as certain kinds of behaviors and even species. Compared to other kinds of evolution, protein enzyme evolution is very conservative in that it does not change much through phylogeny. We essentially have the same enzymes for metabolizing glucose as do bacteria and other single cell animals.

The death of Stephen Paddock and his victims can now be attributed to medical professionals, like Jay R. Feierman, and anyone else who claims: “We are used to thinking about evolution at hierarchical levels above that of protein enzymes.”
The creation of protein enzymes requires an energy source. That fact refutes every aspect of the pseudoscientific nonsense touted by biologically uninformed science idiots. With the emergence of a variant with properties of reverse transcriptase, and subsequently a DNA polymerase, a fundamental step occurred to originate the first genomes based in DNA, being the bridge to move from a RNA/Protein World to a DNA/RNA/Protein World (Gilbert, 1986; Müller, 2006). When DNA molecules emerged, by variation, other classes of polymerases appeared. With the complexification of the biological system, functions such as replication, repair, and recombination emerged, very high error rates were selected against, and the new variants arose to work in specific processes.

My summary: The authors eliminate the energy-dependent creation of enzymes (1) reverse transcriptase and (2) a DNA polymerase. In the second act of their tragic comedy routine, they eliminate the biophysical constraints that link the physiology of pheromone-controlled reproduction from natural selection for energy-dependent codon optimality to the creation of enzymes and food energy-dependent RNA-mediated DNA repair via feedback loops.

Stephen Paddock killed 59 people and more than 500 people were injured. On 10/4/17, there were only 637 views of my 7 minute-long presentation. With release of the cell biology game “Cytosis,” which is scheduled to be available later this month, everyone who is not dead yet will be able to learn how to protect themselves from the cause of death by suicide: viruses. The virus-driven degradation of messenger RNA will also be the cause of death for people who have not learned the difference between energy-dependent healthy longevity and the virus-driven energy theft that will kill them either directly or indirectly.

The energy-dependent de novo creation of G protein-coupled receptors, such as odor receptors, links the sense of smell in bacteria to the physiology of pheromone-controlled reproduction, which links changes in chirality to autophagy. Autophagy links what organisms eat to cell type differentiation via amino acid substitutions that link our visual perception of energy and mass to the feedback loops that link what organisms eat to their behavior.

Experimental proof of concept might require the sacrifice of one mammal. If it can find a mass of energy that is biophysically constrained in a source of food, it must also eat the food and survive to reproduce. Foraging and reproduction occur in the context of facts presented in Feedback loops link odor and pheromone signaling with reproduction (co-authored by 2004 Nobel Laureate, Linda  Buck).

If an organism cannot find the food and eat it, entropy must clearly be linked to its death unless it is among the individuals of a species that mutated and evolved from a common ancestor. Absent a war or an epidemic, it’s unusual and alarming for life expectancies in developed countries to stop improving, let alone to worsen. “Mortality is sort of the tip of the iceberg,” says Laudan Aron, a demographer and senior fellow at the Urban Institute. “It really is a reflection of a lot of underlying conditions of life.”

Darwin’s “conditions of life” were food energy-dependent. The result of this synergy is (1) a liver enzyme that oxidizes trimethylamine to (2) an odor that causes (3) species-specific behaviors. Thus, the complex systems that biology required to get from nutrient acquisition and nutrient metabolism to species-specific odor-controlled behavior is exemplified by adaptive evolution of an attractive odor to mice that repels rats (see for review Li et al., 2013).

Addendum: Fish odor syndrome is the link from the virus-driven theft of quantized energy. The odor links ecological variation to failed ecological adaptation and all pathology when there is insufficient food energy. Any scientist who does not already know that based on the facts known to every medical laboratory scientist is an example of “human idiocy” (Feynman) or a biologically uninformed science idiot (Kohl).

If you believe that the long noncoding ribonucleic acids (RNAs) are genes, you may be convinced that mutations in RNA are the same as mutations in genes. But mutations are the cause of all pathology. Linking mutations in RNA to pathology outside the  context of energy-dependent healthy longevity allows others with no expertise in laboratory testing to continue to believe that mutation-driven evolution is the link from natural selection to the origin of new species. That belief is probably common among others who believe that the Universe itself may be conscious.

McEwen et al., knew that “The synthesis of RNA in isolated thymus nuclei is ATP dependent.” That statement of fact was the beginning of the abstract from 1964. When he told me my model could not be validated unless I started with energy-dependent gene activation in gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH) neurons, I had no reason to doubt him. When I learned that Robert L. Moss had already linked pheromones to energy-dependent gene activation in GnRH neurons, I continued to pursue top-down causation as if it was energy-dependent — because it obviously is energy-dependent.

There are many things in physics and physical chemistry that seem incredulous to me. That includes some of the claims of quantum mechanics. How to teach evolution when students hold creationist views


Feierman, and others like him, have been teaching neo-Darwinian theories either directly or indirectly. But Feierman’s nonsense has consistently been the most offensive to me personally. After publication of my 2013 review, I attempted to discuss the refutation of neo-Darwinian nonsense he had been touting since I first met him at a conference in 1995.

Discover Magazine resurrected the examples of human idiocy in a 2017 article. For comparison, Choi et al., (2017) support the claims that intercellular and interkingdom communication is energy-dependent and controlled by the metabolism of food energy to pheromones.
It is obvious that pheromones biophysically constrain the virus-driven degradation of messenger RNA. That fact links everything currently known about RNA-mediated cell type differentiation to human love in the context of established links from quantum physics to quantum souls. It may surprise some people to know that the virus-driven evolution of love is the antithetical to the food energy-dependent physiology of pheromone-controlled reproduction in all living genera. Indeed, some people may realize that the virus-driven evolution of anything is based upon ridiculous theories that were invented by Emmy Noethe.

Richard Feynman inadvertently did that when he claimed that the different measures for units of energy used by other theoretical physicists were examples of human idiocy.

MicroRNAs are small non-coding RNAs that bind to the 3′-untranslated region of target mRNAs and have transcriptional or translational inhibitory function in eukaryotes. Before microRNAs were widely known, bacterial non-coding small RNAs around 50-200 nt in length were discovered whose mechanism of action resembled that of microRNAs. Recently, RNAs that are of similar size to or smaller than microRNAs have been discovered in bacteria and indeed, this class of small RNAs have been found throughout all domains of life. Moreover, recent findings suggest that these tiny RNAs can be released via extracellular vesicles (such as exosomes in eukaryotes and outer membrane vesicles in bacteria), which in turn heralds a new field of research, interkingdom communication. This review discusses two similar classes of small RNAs in evolutionarily distinct eukaryotes and bacteria. In addition to their biogenesis and regulation, we discuss small RNA vehicles and their secretion. These authors attest to the fact that the structure and function of bacterial small RNAs and eukaryotic microRNAs are not limited to their food energy-dependent de novo creation in their cells of origin.
The fact that small RNA and micro-RNA-mediated cell type differentiation occurs in the context of hydrogen-atom transfer in DNA base pairs in solution links the information in this review to claims that small RNAs in seawater solutions and microRNAs in blood link “common molecule” status to “… the function of small RNAs in intercellular and even interkingdom communication.”  The fact that intercellular and interkingdom communication is energy-dependent and controlled by the metabolism of food energy to pheromones that biophysically constrain the virus-driven degradation of messenger RNA, links everything currently known about cell type differentiation from quantum physics to quantum souls via the food energy-dependent physiology of reproduction in all living genera.
