One test of bioenergetic health?

Success of new-generation metabolo-therapies in personalized medicine depends on measuring bioenergetic health

Excerpt: “In one test, a comprehensive measure of energetic health, or its disease-related deterioration, can now be made. The prognostic and diagnostic value of bioenergetic measurements in patients is still unknown, but recent findings support an emerging concept that circulating leukocytes and platelets can serve as the “canary in the coal mine” by acting as early sensors or predictive biomarkers of metabolic function under conditions of chronic stress and disease.4-8”
My comment: This statement appears to be speculative. If it were true, test development must already include what is known about nutrient-dependent bio-physical constraints on the chemistry of protein folding. The test must also include what is known about the conserved molecular mechanisms of RNA-mediated events that link amino acid substitutions to cell type differentiation in all cells of all individuals of all species.
Minimally, however, their approach appears be consistent with tests that link metabolic networks to genetic networks via mitochondrial DNA. These tests predict what might happen during the metabolism of different drugs. Levels of evidence have been established by matching genetic and metabolic profiles in an ongoing study with results first reported on 10,000 patients.
See: Clinically Actionable Genotypes Among 10,000 Patients With Preemptive Pharmacogenomic Testing  A summary of current findings is included in this short video representation of how patients can benefit from testing requested by their physician.

In the context of the “canary in the coal mine” that was mentioned above, there is already good evidence from the honeybee model organism, which has been referred to as the “canary in the coal mine” that predicts how ecological variation leads to ecological adaptation or to extinction. See, for instance, The cause of colony collapse could be a message for all of us
Theorists who still claim that mutations and/or natural selection lead to the evolution of biodiversity may kill us all before serious scientists realize that the life history transitions of the honeybee are nutrient-dependent and pheromone-controlled — and so are life history transitions in species from microbes to man.
All life histories are bio-physically constrained by the Laws of Physics and the chemistry of protein folding, which is altered by nutrient-uptake. In vertebrates and invertebrates nutrient-dependent RNA-directed DNA methylation links the epigenetic landscape to the physical landscape of DNA in organized genomes. Evolutionary biologists and other pseudoscientists may rather you continue to believe in their theories and ignore experimental evidence that already has been applied to personalized preventative medicine.
